quirks and hangups

I want to post, but not something that involves a great deal of thought and care – I have things like that coming, but right now I haven’t the energy for them. So I am copping out and posting one of those Quirks and Hangups You Didn’t Know About sort of things.
– I don’t like ketchup. I used to, but somewhere along the way I got out of the habit. Is it the artificial tang of preservatives? The disgusting crusties that form around the mouth of the bottle? I don’t know. I do know that I don’t like it unless it’s on a Quarter Pounder from McDonald’s. That’s the only time.
– I don’t like stuff on my hands. When I bake, I wash my hands constantly, even though it’s pretty pointless (as soon as my hands are clean, they’re messy again). I keep huge bottles of hand sanitizer everywhere. And when it is most…important…I swallow. Ahem. It’s just tidier (and I still wash my hands after, at the first opportunity).
– I skip to the end of books and I actively seek out spoilers. I enjoy things a lot more if I know how they’re going to end, whether it’s happy or sad. Which is probably why I am crap at relationships. I have to know.
– I prefer strawberry milk to chocolate milk.
– I am ostensibly left handed, but I bat, throw, knit, bowl, and punch right. I do hoop to the left, though, and I dance left.
– I willfully disregard instructions in baking that tell me to mix my wet and dry ingredients separately. The world has not ended and my cookies are still spectacular.
– My favorite dessert flavor is lemon.
– I love having long hair, but I hate wearing it down. It’s constantly up in a braid, bun, or ponytail. Eventually I get annoyed and have it all cut off, but then I miss having long hair and the cycle begins anew.
– Speaking of hair, I am still shampoo free. It is nearly two years now. I haven’t used chemical colorants in over a year. If I were to cut off the last inch or so of my hair right now, I’d have a head of hair that has never been permed, shampooed, chemically treated or blowdried. I feel that this is kind of a good accomplishment.
– I hate knitting ribbing, which is mostly why I have switched to top-down sock knitting; I get the boring horrible ribbing out of the way and then the rest of the sock is almost like a party – if you’re sad and lame like me, that is.
