hustle and bustle

I am such a sucker for the underdog. Poor Matt Smith! Despite the fact that A) I know next to nothing about how he’s going to do as The Doctor and B) he is the same age as my younger brother Drew, which is to say much too old for coddling and sookiness, I just want to give him an enormous hug and yelp, “You’re going to be JUST FINE as the Doctor! All the naysayers are completely full of shit! Don’t you even listen to them.”
Which is rather silly since I’m basing my opinion on the same thirty seconds as everyone else. Nevertheless, I find it disheartening to see all the general raging on the internet about the poor guy. It’s not exactly an about face – I was always cautiously interested to see his take on things despite my gushing adoration of David Tennant – but I certainly am firming up my stance and opinion of the young fellow-me-lad, in direct reaction to all the asshats still saying that the show ended for them with Tennant.
(seriously I feel like one of those obnoxious idiots, the guys from High Fidelity – “NO RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS KICK WAY MORE ASS THAN MITCH RYDER AND THE DETROIT WHEELS YOU STUPID FUCK,” that sort of dedicated snobbery thing where I just want to snit, “You are totally a loser false fan then who don’t know nuffink about Doctor Who or anyfing!” My inner snit sounds like Rose Tyler in this case)
Not his fault he’s having to follow the most popular Doctor since Tom Baker, really. It’s all got my “root for the underdog” cheerleadering spirit up. Which is rather ridiculous, in the end. Dude’s got the approval of Steven Fucking Moffat – that really ought to speak for itself.
Anyhow. Enough of that for the moment.
I am knitting things – sweaters and socks and gloves. I am impatient to start my silk Aeolian shawl but have only pennies to my name and so cannot afford to buy the required beads to knit it. I am nearly ready to dig both the TARDISoftie and the Baby Jack Harkness doll out of Toy Purgatory and try to finish them.
Also I am cooking and baking and cleaning house.
Must be winter, is what I am saying. Most women do the nesting thing when they’re pregnant; well, I’m fair positive at this point that that isn’t going to happen for me without a visit to a particular sort of bank, so it’s a good job for me that I nest in the wintertime.
Else my apartment would never be anything even remotely resembling tidy.
I even mixed together a solution of vinegar, water, and baking soda and cleaned my microwave. I do not clean my microwave, gross but true. But last night I really went to town on it. And I plan to try and finish the job tonight.
Might make some muffins, too, while I’m at it. Banana Streusel. It’s all very Frugal Gourmet and pantry cleaning around here. If you don’t stop me I might actually reorganize both closets.
AND I got a bit more work done on the novel PLUS I shot a new hoopdance video which I will post up Saturday, if I have it done then.
Productive is me!
Have I mentioned I haven’t seen my therapist in a month? She cancelled my last appointment due to being sick. I should probably call sometime this week and schedule something, but maybe I’ll wait till I’ve finished tackling the laundry and mending pile first.
